Jacob Naoulou is a dynamic legal professional with a multifaceted background that has swiftly risen as a figure in the legal world since graduating from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (“Cardozo Law”) in 2021. With a unique blend of knowledge in law, accounting, business management, and finance, Mr. Naoulou brings a comprehensive approach to every legal challenge.

After obtaining a Juris Doctor degree from Cardozo Law, Mr. Naoulou further solidified his legal foundation by successfully passing the New York Bar Exam in 2022.

During Mr. Naoulou’s time at Cardozo Law School, Mr. Naoulou demonstrated a strong inclination towards civil/general litigation, tax, and securities law. Mr. Naoulou’s passion for these areas led him to valuable experiences at esteemed institutions. As an extern at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), Mr. Naoulou honed his understanding of securities regulations and compliance, gaining invaluable insights into the intricate world of financial law and governance. In addition to his work at the SEC, Mr. Naoulou expanded his legal horizons by contributing to civil litigation cases at a prominent law firm, Schulman Law Group. This exposure allowed him to witness the practical application of legal strategies in real world scenarios, developing a comprehensive perspective that would prove invaluable in his future endeavors.

In 2022, Mr. Naoulou embarked on a new chapter in his career, joining Ernst & Young (“EY”), a global leader in professional services. After serving EY as an intern in 2020 as part of EY’s international tax group specializing in corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) tax, Mr. Naoulou rejoined after graduation and eventually earned a position as senior tax associate providing critical insights to corporate clients seeking expert guidance on complex tax matters. His role involved meticulous tax due diligence, assessing potential tax liabilities, and advising clients on the intricate tax implications of buy-side and sell-side transactions. Mr. Naoulou’s contributions facilitated smooth and tax efficient M&A transactions for numerous corporate entities.

In 2023, Mr. Naoulou achieved another significant milestone by passing all four of the Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) exams and obtaining his CPA license in New York State. This accomplishment further underscores his exceptional aptitude in accounting and finance, enhancing his ability to provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients with intricate financial considerations.

Armed with a strong legal foundation and practical experience, Mr. Naoulou took a significant step in his journey by founding his law firm, Now Law and Associates, P.C., in February 2023. Currently licensed to practice law both in New York and New Jersey, at Now Law and Associates, Mr. Naoulou has continued to demonstrate unwavering commitment and tenacity in his pursuit of justice. Leveraging a diverse skill set, Mr. Naoulou serves as a dedicated civil litigator, representing clients in a wide array of legal disputes. His prowess extends beyond litigation, as Mr. Naoulou provides adept legal services in various transactional areas, spanning multiple practice domains within the law firm.

About Yisroel Schulman

Yisroel Schulman graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987. From 1987 through 1990, Mr. Schulman was a member of the full-time faculty of law at Cardozo. Mr. Schulman is the recipient of many awards, including the New York State Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Public Service in the Legal Profession and the inaugural winner of Cardozo’s Alumni Achievement Award. He is a much sought after speaker and has taught hundreds of non-profit executives and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses to thousands of attorneys.

In 1990, Mr. Schulman co-founded the New York Legal Assistance Group (“NYLAG”), a non-profit law firm which provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals. At NYLAG, Mr. Schulman held the top professional position, first titled “Executive Director and Attorney-in-Charge” and later titled “President and Attorney-in-Charge”. In this capacity, Mr. Schulman oversaw all operations of NYLAG. During his tenure, NYLAG’s budget grew to over $40,000,000 and from one paid staff member to a paid staff of over 250, with more than 500 volunteers, working out of 35 plus locations throughout New York. In 2015, NYLAG provided free civil legal services to over 75,000 individuals and handled class action and other impact and law reform cases benefiting hundreds of thousands of low-income people.

With the backing of NYLAG’s then-Board, Mr. Schulman was involved in the innovation of numerous models of pro bono programs for low-income New Yorkers that have been adopted throughout the State including, the most recent use of non-lawyer volunteers to provide limited scope legal services under attorney supervision. Mr. Schulman also conceptualized the Mobile Legal Help Centers, a successful joint initiative between the New York State Office of Court Administration and legal services programs. Additionally, Mr. Schulman was involved in creating NYLAG’s September 11th Response Team which assisted the majority of the families of immediate victims of the World Trade Center disaster and the Superstorm Sandy Relief Program, the State’s largest legal services initiative for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

In 2015, Mr. Schulman resigned from NYLAG and founded Schulman Law Group which provides legal services to individuals and corporations in a variety of areas. Mr. Schulman advises and represents clients in several diverse practice areas, including without limitation, not-for-profit and religious corporation law, family and matrimonial law, commercial business and individual disputes, and estate planning. 

Mr. Schulman is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and District of Colombia.
